NY's new anti-SLAPP law seems to be crushing it, with courts striking libel suits left and right

In November 2020, I blogged about New York's passage of an updated anti-SLAPP statute that provides powerful protections to defendants facing libel and other lawsuits arising from speech and protected activities.  I asked, "How will the new anti-SLAPP law play out in NY courts?"

Well, four months later, the anti-SLAPP statute appears to be holding its weight.  The Hollywood Reporter's Eriq Gardner agrees, observing that "Libel Defendants Are on a Massive Win Streak in New York."  Gardner points to recent anti-SLAPP victories by The New York Times, the New York Post, and an aspiring young saxophonist.

This is welcome news for New York's media organizations and free speech advocates.
